The meaning we give to things depends on how we view them. The shaping of reality presupposes a comprehensive examination and understanding of time, place and event. The falling apart of the familiar world arouses strong doubts and changes the way we perceive our environment and, at the same time, it changes our image of self.

The ten years I spent in the Middle East specifically moulded my perception of the world.

I had to ponder on approval and forgiveness, on the diversity of men as defined by race, culture and religion.

The ability of communicating with the past is a prerequisite to the understanding of the present and the anticipation of the future.

In my works I have deliberated upon the meaning of visuals and associations and upon the possibility of using images to repress the fugitiveness of memory. Visuals are rarely just visuals; works are also audible and readable through various symbols. In my works I contemplate on delusions and vital questions of humanity. I build moods and reminiscences of the absent. Through symbolism and metaphors I treat dramatic events, reflections of memories and the presence of threat.

Memories are subtle and fragile but simultaneously strong cognitions of what we remember about the past, think about the present and imagine about the future.

– Maybe memory is merely a function for our survival.
